Huge thanks to Swissrose at The Little Wash House for passing on the Virtual Blog Tour Award! The rules and the brilliant blogs I’ve nominated are below, but first, here are my answers 🙂
What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment I’m trying to knuckle down and finish writing the One Empty Shelf 7 days to amaze course- it’s a free immersion into mini adventures, free thinking, minimalism and creativity. I’m just trying to figure out how to fit it all into a short free course and still make sure people get value from it!
I’m also focusing more on how to use YouTube and playing around with Final Cut X, it’s a lot of fun! I’m just trying to figure out how to make something a bit different for One Empty Shelf via the medium of video. I’m excited to see where it ends up. Other than that I’m working on trying to post a lot more regularly on One Empty Shelf and finding different ways to get inspired!
How does your work differ to others in your genre?
I think that the main message is the same as most people’s in the Minimalist genre-that living with more stuff doesn’t necessarily make you happier. I think it’s great that more and more people are looking to the benefits of Minimalism and learning that there’s so much more to life, rather than following a consumer dream and finding out it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
I think my focus is becoming more influenced by the principles of Permaculture and choosing more ethical and sustainable options, so I think this is going to influence how I write about Minimalism and the way I live my life over the coming months.
I’m buying nothing this year and this is having a big influence over what I write about too! So I think that’s something a bit different. It’s great as people are joining in, it’s inspiring to read other people’s experiences.
Why do you write/create what you do?
I have to! I just can’t not… I’ve always written but never had the confidence to go public with what I wrote. Over the last few years people have been increasingly supportive and positive, so I went for it! I might not be the best but I realised there’s only one life and if I didn’t do what I love I’d regret it.
I’m totally passionate about Minimalism and living in a more mindful way. I want to help people see a different option to the 9-5 that seems to be the norm in the UK. Even if just one person starts to question and become curious about Minimalism, I’m happy.
How does your writing/creative process work?
I’m an ‘all-or-nothing’ type of person, so I’ll just sit down and write a whole article in one go. If I’m on a roll I’ll write two or three in a mammoth session, then not write anything for a week or so! I’ve always been like that. I could never study or revise or do work in small chunks. I always did everything the night before! But it keeps me focused and in flow. Immersing yourself in something you love doing is brilliant. Something will spark and I’ll get all inspired and have to rush back and write lots of words! It’s not just writing though-I hate starting things that I know I can’t finish in one go. Maybe I’m just impatient!
I nominate the following blogs for the Virtual Blog Tour Award…Don’t feel you have to do anything, only join in if you want to! I love all your writing. Your article date is 16th March 2015…
